Before beginning the set-up process it will be best to have your WIFI network name and the WIFI password ready.
- Download the Amazon Alexa app on your phone or your iPad/tablet
- Plug in your Amazon Echo
- Create an Amazon account, or login if you already have one
- You will be asked to verify your account via your email. Enter the 6-digit number from the email into Amazon Alexa App.
- Select the country you live in, ie United States, hit continue
- Agree to the terms and conditions, hit agree
- Next screen says that Alexa is designed to protect your privacy, you can always learn more at amazon.com/alexaprivacy, hit continue
- Next step says do you want to set up a device. Hit yes
- Echo is ready for setup, hit the continue button.
- It will now search for WIFI
- You will need to select your WIFI network and then you will be asked to enter your WIFI password and then hit connect
- Your echo is now connected. Hit continue
- Choose a language for your Alexa, and hit continue
- Select a room your ECHO is in, and hit continue
- It will ask for your name as the account holder
- Next it will ask if your name is correct, if so, agree and continue
- Next it will want to know if your name is being pronounced properly with a PLAY Button/right facing triangle, hit the button and hit continue if true
- OPTIONAL STEPS – 19-27
- SET UP voice ID – set up voice enables Alexa to learn your voice, call you by name, and provide enhanced personalization. You can agree and continue on this OR you can skip. If you hit skip, your profile will be ready and you can select a button that says SET UP MY FEATURES, if you agree and continue you will be asked to access your microphone
- ACCESS CONTACTS
- VERIFY PHONE NUMBER
- ALLOW NOTIFICATIONS
- ADD A FAMILY PROFILE
- If you skip all of those steps your Alexa ECHO will be ready to use. You can add an address for personalized weather, traffic, news and more
- Next you will be taken to a page entitled Amazon Sidewalk –
Amazon sidewalk is a shared network that helps devices work better. Sidewalk can help your compatible devices automatically connect or reconnect to your router. It can also extend the coverage for Sidewalk – enabled device, such as Ring Smart light and pet and object trackers, so they can stay connected and continue to work over longer distances. Sidewalk uses a small portion of your Internet bandwidth to provide these services to your neighbors. This setting will apply to all of your supported Echo and Ring devices that are linked to your Amazon account. You can update this setting at any time. Hit enable or disable. - Get Started with your Alexa – Now you either create a voice profile or hit LET’S GO
